Behind the Lens
Meet Kara

Hello! I'm Kara, a photographer based right here in Mason, Ohio. My journey behind the lens has been a unique one, deeply rooted in my background as a biologist and my lifelong fascination with the natural world. Like Ansel Adams, whose work profoundly inspires me, I find immense beauty and wonder in capturing the intricate details and grand landscapes around us, particularly in wildlife photography.

My path has also given me a deep understanding of individual perspectives. As an autistic person, I personally know what it feels like to be outside one's comfort zone, especially in front of a camera. This understanding fuels my passion for portraiture. My goal is simple: to create a relaxed and supportive environment where anyone who steps in front of my lens feels truly comfortable and seen.

For me, portrait photography is about more than just taking a picture; it's about capturing the authentic essence of each individual – their unique personality, their true nature, their inherent beauty. Just as I strive to document the genuine behavior of wildlife in their natural habitat, I aim to capture the unposed, heartfelt moments that reveal the real you.

Whether I'm patiently waiting to capture the perfect shot of a bird in flight or working with you to create a portrait you'll cherish, my approach is guided by observation, empathy, and a deep respect for the subject. I believe everyone has a story to tell, and I'm honored to use my lens to help bring those stories to light.

When I'm not out in nature or connecting with people through my camera, you might find me volunteering as a photographer for the Mason Marching Band, various sports, or a non-profit event. I'm always eager to connect with individuals looking for a comfortable and authentic portrait experience. Please feel free to browse my portfolio and reach out – I'd love to hear from you.
